Artist Statement I have two art sites, one for real things, people and places and one for Merpig and her friends and family and fun whimsical illustrations of things from my imagination. I will be posting from both sites here. I also do Mer-portrait commissions for little girls For Grown Ups I have and portraits and custom meditation altars and vision boards. Want to make your own creations? Join me for workshops and read my blog at Mindful Joyful.I love creating beauty. I am a little reticent about creating such "pretty-Happy" art. Art is supposed to involve suffering right? Art is supposed to be modern and hard edged, expressing our deepest fears and hatreds, right? Wrong, well at least wrong for me. When I paint I feel a lot of joy thinking about color and light and beauty.

Making art is my anchor. It keeps me sane and I can't seem to stop doing it although I always thought it would be easier, and much more sensible if I had become an accountant or a computer programmer. Alas, math just wasn't my strongest subject although I love fractals.

By the age of ten I had a small subscription of 4 friends for one of my illustrated fashion magazine and a comic book spy novel i was writing. I would send this from our hotel rooms in Hong Kong and other stops along the way during our round the world puppet tour.
