Artist Statement Artist's Statement:
Living in the United States, I have always felt a need to give back not out of guilt but out of duty and responsibility. I try to keep my art focused on issues that I feel passion for. I use narrative to create voices and tell stories that would otherwise go unheard. My history of volunteer work gives me a passion for the human story, giving every person I encounter a part in each piece I create.
I have no set style, rather I enjoy using many techniques and types of imagery to convey my ideas. I have a tendency to jump around on projects, leading one piece to greatly influence another. I focus my energy on print based media, using techniques to convey symbolism using graphic lines and color. In my previous studies I focused on illustration and graphic design, but now have decided through my studies at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design that my passion lies in printmaking and sculpture.
I tell the stories that need to be heard in ways that touch the individual in different ways, keeping symbolism open to interpretation.
