Artist Statement My name is Jeff Wright and I have been involved in photography since I was 9 years old. My father introduced me to photography and he gave me my first camera. It was a camera that came with a fill up of gas. He built a darkroom in the basement and taught my brothers and I how to develop our own film and print our own pictures. It amazed me to see those images appear as if by majic during the processing of the prints. I was immediately hooked on photography and read as much as I could about the subject. He later gave me one of his old cameras. It was an Argus 35mm camera with split image focusing. I became a photographer for the yearbook staff in high school. I worked all summer as a buss boy in a bar-b-que restaurant to buy my first 35mm SLR camera. It was a Konica T2 with a 57 mm f/1.4 lens. Over the years I have added several lenses and camera bodies to my Konica collection. Now that digital is here I have updated my equipment to a Canon Rebel XT and a Canon 5D MKII. I have several lenses for my Canon cameras now and am starting on a new road in my photography career. Some of my work is displayed in my current workplace and I hope to have more of my work displayed in another section of my workplace. My work has on display at the Town of Tioga Center Art Gallery. This was the first time my work was in a real art show. I hope to continue to create images that are pleasing to people and that my work will impart a sense of calm and peace. Please enjoy my work and may you find that sense of calm and peace.

Regards,
Jeffrey M. Wright
