Artist Statement Ondrej comes from beautiful region of Slovakia - Orava. He has joined the “Nature Focused” movements of “Strom Zivota” and “Slimak” already in his teens and he started using old camera “Zenit” to capture all possible activities around the community. Later on, he evolved to much more advanced cameras - first Olympus IS-3000 and finally several bodies from Nikon, which he is still using in present days. Digital revolution made his decision easier to switch film for digital SLR camera. From that point he has made really great step in creative photography. Innovative and convenient mediums allowed him to present his work on the internet and share his already very promising pictures with the whole world. After Ondrej has moved to Canada he first started looking for his place in photography and after some explorations and chats with other photographers, he realized that the most authentic way for him is to document nature and animals in beautiful western Canada. His goal was to show everyone how incredible wildlife and nature is in certain parts of the world. Ondrej published his work in Canada (Aboriginal Perspectives, Canadian Geographic), in Mexico (Mamíferos de la Reserva de la Biosfera de Mapimí), Great Britain (Know Yourself magazine) and Slovakia (“Katalóg táborov Stromu života, Polovnictvo a Rybarstvo”) as well as on many internet photographic sites. Presently, Ondrej is exclusively photographing nature and wildlife in Canada national parks. He is planning trips to Alaska, Costa Rica and other countries.
