Description Text reads 'Sunward Tumbling Sun-Split Clouds Windswept Delirious Untrespassed' inspired by sonnet 'High Flight' by John Gillespie Magee. Hand drawn letters in graphite, the words are arranged tightly together to form a rectangle. Dark and light gray tones, shadows and light, like clouds and sunshine.
Deborah Willard, Winston-Salem NC Member Since August 2008 Artist Statement Photography has always been a vital part of my creative process and an important source of inspiration for my other artistic endeavors. I consider photography and digital imaging as media in their own right, paying close attention to color and composition. I like photographing flowers, birds, wildlife, and other elements of nature; cats & dogs; scenic vistas and rustic structures; and colorful events in Winston-Salem’s lively Downtown Arts District. In 2010 I opened my own working studio/shop/gallery in a great location in the Arts District. I spend much of my time there creating hand painted clothing. I create most of my designs freehand, so photography is an important tool for maintaining a photo file of various designs. I have recently begun doing a series of pencil and pastel drawings of dogs of the Downtown Arts District, using my photos as references.
