Description This original acrylic painting is a part of The Dream Tour Series. I want to show the beauty of high quality waves at their perfection. This series is made of the surfing locations around the globe-professional surfers tour each year in pursuit of the world championship. Teahupoo is a notoriously perfect machine like wave with a razor sharp, living reef bottom. My intention was to show how much water is hurled out past its ocean swell and forms a glass ceiling that finally explodes violently around, and hopefully behind the surfer who dares. Please visit www.clarkssurfarthawaii.com for more imagery. Look out for more Dream Tour Series locations in RedBubble as they become available. I have six originals of eleven locations and three scans as of 2-10-08.
Clark Takashima, Wahiawa, Hawaii Member Since February 2008 Artist Statement Clark Takashima is in love with surfing. His love of 30+ years in the water is translated into pure depictions that draw the viewer into the experience. He is driven to portray surfing-the sport, its seascapes, its essence, and it's rarity with accuracy of color and form. He is actively using his talents to bring awareness to the fleeting visions that occur only when certain wind conditions allow. "Perfect surf holds a short term reminder of how we should appreciate our environment-while such beauty still exists. Surfers are a canary in the coal mine-literally, the water we spend hours in-if polluted, will make us sick if the ocean is sick, so is our rain an so on." Surfing is not the only subject that Clark portrays, He has been a leader in Hawaii's commercial and residential mural commissions. He paints everything from "Hawaiiana" to "Italiana".
