Description original painting was created on a 24x36x1.5'' framed cotton canvas, using acrylic colors. I finished it with a high quality art varnish to protect it from moisture and dust plus it adds to the finishing effect of a stained glass/ mosaic theme. It is colorful and lovely! There are 15 different butterflies that are painted on to a painted black canvas, giving a floating effect. The sides are painted black, there is no initialed or signatures on the front so you can hang it vertical or horizontal to fit your personal space and style.
Rachel Olynuk, Faust Alberta Member Since December 2014 Artist Statement Canadian contemporary artist Rachel Olynuk is a self taught Artist, she creates abstract and bohemian cottage style paintings. From a French cottage style with warm shades of yellow and blue, beach cottage with white mixed with blues to a country cottage with patch work and block patterns. Her style embodies a mix of simplicity, diversity and flexibility in matching to a relaxing and comfortable decor. " When I paint the silhouettes, I fall into them, the simplicity of a shadowed figure blended in a sea of color, they have such a romantic appeal." Rachel lives and works from her home studio in Alberta Canada, with her husband and best friend Jeff (her biggest fan and supporter), their horses and dogs. It is such a lovely place, surrounded by trees that must be 60 feet high! The summers are a little short, but she says she finds daily inspirations in her surroundings as her art work continues to grow and develop into her own unique style, just like in her own personal life.
