Description A minimalist depiction of the ancient wonder, the Colossus of Rhodes. It was destroyed by an earthquake, so I wanted my design to reflect the mystery of what the figure may have looked like. The Colossus of Rhodes was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It was a huge statue built around 280 B.C. that was constructed on the Greek island of Rhodes. It was destroyed in an earthquake in 226 B.C. Reports on the statue state that it was created in honor of the sun god Helios and to commemorate the Rhodians' successful defense of their island against an attack by Macedonians in 305 B.C.
