Artist Statement Kevin Heesacker is a silly bastard who has try to be one of the most gumby-fresh artistic/comedic personalities that the comedy art world has ever seen. Over his legendary 45-year career (okay it's more like a 10-year career which really isn't all that legendary, but let's pretend), the "Chicken Boy" has been one of the most over the top zany and quirky artist of all time (well maybe not all time, but at least for the past 5 minutes). Kevin has had success with using a humorous form of self expression in both his Fine Art, Mix Media Performances, and Stand Up Comedy. He has won awards for his painting "Dawn of the Chickens", and his mix media live action with video performance "Death of a Stick Figure 2000." Kevin’s stand up act also made him a finalist at the Funny Bone Comedy Club’s “Funniest Person in Omaha” amateur contest in 2003. He has gone on since then to perform in several variety shows under the name of “Chicken Boy” in the years that followed. His most recent achievement being the winning of the 2010 Golden Undie Award for Comic Most Likely to Make You Pee a Little.

The story of Kevin Heesacker began in Omaha, NE, where he grew up enjoying both stand up comedy (Steve Martin, Sam Kinison, and Andy Kaufman to name a few), making art (drawings, paintings, comics, and such...), and writing short funny stories. As he pursued art through out his High School years, he decided to mix his love of comedy with his love to make art, and thus began to make comical paintings in order to get his message across. This began his career as the "comedic artist".

In 1997, Kevin Heesacker moved to Denver, CO for four years in order to get his BFA at the Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design (RMCAD). There he began to try to mix stand up with his art as well, which led to the creation of his live mix media performances with prerecorded video.

Kevin Heesacker then moved back to Omaha after achieving his BFA Degree form RMCAD in 2001. From there he began to continue to pursue comedic self expression in art and stand up. In late 2003, Kevin began to drift away from traditional art and began to pursue mostly just stand up and amateur film. Kevin’s antics as his “Chicken Boy” personal would make him a crowd favorite in the Omaha underground open mic scene. He would eventually go on to host his own series variety shows at the Saddle Creek Bar which feature live comedy, video skits, along with a series of guest performers.

After a 6 year absence from the fine art world, a slightly more mature Kevin, the Chicken Boy, Heesacker had chosen to make a return to traditional art. In late 2009, he began to produce a new series of paintings featuring his warp comedic perspective in a pop art style. Using all the skills acquirer over the years, Kevin now wishes to continue his vision of a comedy art world through the use of art, film, and stand up. Then when no one least expects it, he'll unveil his true evil plans of invading Cuba and declaring war on John Tesh using an army of killer chickens and circus midgets! When that day happens may God have mercy on us all, but until then just try to enjoy the show.
