Although I paint in several different media, I enjoy watercolor most of all. The fluidity and transparency of the paint allows for many different effects not attainable with most other media. Scenes from nature are my favorite painting subjects. When I paint florals, I depict them as they grow with twisted leaves and browning stems and all. This adds beauty and interest to the loveliness of the flower or plant. You will also find areas of "negative painting" in my paintings, and quite a bit of detail.

I have now lived in the Pacific Northwest for almost 20 years and never tire of painting its forest and ocean scenes. I have also discovered many dozen ways to mix different shades of green paint, as the landscapes here are mostly green, summer and winter.

My educational background includes several years at Ca´nada College and the California College of Fine Art and Design in the San francisco Bay Area. I have also taken several workshops from various well-known artists around the country.

I hope you enjoy my work. Allene Soshea
