Artist Statement Anastasia Smith is a Desert Fantasy artist. She is inspired by stories she reads, the land she lives in, and the people and animals that live in it with her. Living on a horse farm and working in Las Vegas she is surrounded by beautiful creatures, from showgirls to horses. She works primarily in oil paint, but you will occasionally see other mediums as well. The paintings are executed quickly, relying on her extensive skills at seeing and drawing rather than draftsmans tricks or photo references. Her art is realistic and figurative, but it is what is underneath the images that drives them. She invites you to see the world in a slightly different way, to really experience the beauty of it.
