Description This piece considers the observations that objects hold of our lives. Each of these objects came to me after witnessing a series of unusual events. The clock, for example, belonged to a woman born at the turn of the century who carried on a decades-long affair with a young man her son's age.
Katherine Altom, Washington, DC Member Since February 2013 Artist Statement The truly wonderful thing about art is its ability to communicate how another person sees the world. Light falls on all of our eyes in the same way, but it is for our minds to choose how to interpret the information. When a painter paints a picture, she creates a world on canvas to communicate to her audience one way of interpreting light. Many of these paintings are landscapes which I have gazed upon and chosen to believe that the colors could be more vibrant, or the trees could be taller. I invite you to here gaze upon my world.
