Artist Statement Greetings,

I never used to enjoy art class in school. According to my parents and teachers, I’d literally refuse to participate. I have arrived at such a strange place as a result of my early experiences with art. My aunt, a very well read woman, asked of me the reason I disliked art. I was quite young at the time, and I couldn’t answer her then. Looking back, I saw that there was no room for individual thought. They would say to draw a house, the family, or some other thing. I found a similar thing when I reached University.

The problem I had was with limitations of style and of thought. As I upload more of my work my style will become more apparent. It doesn’t lend itself to the constraints of a project, and it doesn’t limit itself to any one thing.

I began to find my own place of comfort in the artistic world when I wasn’t attending school. I found the place where no person was the master of my creation; in this place, I let my hands work as they please.

Photography is one thing I have begun to dabble in. At best, I am an amateur. However, I have an eye for certain things. Perhaps you will be the judge of that.

Sincerely,

Meghan
