Artist Statement Shaunna is somewhat new to Whidbey Island, but she's not new to the Northwest. While living in the Portland Oregon area for 3 years, Shaunna fell in love with the sheer beauty of the mountains, ocean, and now she's fallen in love with Whidbey Island!

Her past experiences has been in marketing, advertising, and of course, photography! Shaunna's focus with photography in the past was sports oriented for the most part.

It was back in 2008 where she put down the zoom lenses and picked up the wide angle lenses when her passion grew towards nature type photography.
You could always find Shaunna in the mountains along the Columbia River Gorge or, along the ocean at Cannon Beach creating images with her camera. It was plain to see that Shaunna belonged in the Northwest taking photographs!

Now living on Whidbey Island herself, Shaunna has quickly found that there's more to island than just breathtaking sunrises, sunsets, and stunning island scenery. First and foremost the people that live here on the island are so incredibly friendly. Shaunna feels so blessed to be living in a community that welcomes all with open arms, and with wonderful warm felt smiles. She also loves the island festivals, and events!

So far Shaunna has two favorite festivals-events she's had the pleasure to attend. The Island County fair is what she calls "a true kids paradise", and she has such a hard time holding back the smiles as she watches the kid’s pie eating contest at the Loganberry festival in Greenbank. Shaunna knows she's going to end up having more favorite's in the future, but the festivals that have the kids in mind are still her favorites by far...

You may see Shaunna out and about at times here on the island. Some of her favorite areas are the Maxwelton Beach, Boy and Dog Park in Langley, and you may even see her sitting along the cliffs at Fort Ebey State park. It's at Ebey where you may see her with a sandwich in one hand, and a camera in the other watching the paragliders soar over the water with the Olympic Mountains in the background.

Shaunna says she's now made Whidbey Island her home for the rest of her life. She has to pinch herself each day to remind herself that she's not dreaming, and that she is indeed living in a paradise named Whidbey!

We hope this information about Shaunna has allowed you to see the love she has for this place she calls her island paradise. We also hope you'll be able to see the passion, and love she tries to show in each and every photograph of Whidbey Island that we offer here at our online gallery."

Enjoy...
