Artist Statement Born in communist Bulgaria, Emil Bodourov studied classical paintings in his teenage years. Leaving aside his passion for art he graduated aircraft engineering with Bachelor Degree and worked in the field for 4 years,
In 1984 filled with disillusionment about the lack of basic freedom he left the country and south a new life In the free world
In 1986 he end up in New York City and found a job like aircraft mechanic with Pan Am at JFK Airport.The city’s energy and its vast artistic venues and communities triggered a powerful response in his artistic inspirations. Painting just for fun his work quickly spread into the local galleries
In 1992 he moved to Miami working like a full time artist painter.
For the next 10 years the booming construction industry at the time provided him with variety of large scale challenging jobs. Jobs that required a whole new sets of skills and knowledge. He embrace this opportunity with passion, explore new materials and painting techniques and got a spectacular results. From realistically beautiful skies painted strait on the ceilings, inky blue lime paint wall frescos ,amazingly transparent glazes. His work south by prominent interior designers cover the pages of Architectural Digest numerous times
In 2006 he went back to work on canvases, completely deferent type of painter. Cross mixing textures and painting texniques his painting are catching the eyes of local curators and art lovers with pure harmony and balance
Currently he is exhibiting at A Gallery 1637 Jefferson Av.Miami Beach and 273 NW 23 st. Miami ,Wynwood
