Description Acrylic on canvas, 24' x 18', September, 2008.
This painting is loosely inspired by Hieronymus Boschs The Pedlar. I got the background in an abstract-expressionist fashion by simply painting shapes to match the shadows of leaves that happened to lie on my canvas, and then fashioned it into a mountain scene and added the Wanderer. To fill it out, I put some creepy critters into those rocks on the left, perhaps theyre memories from the Wanderers past. For me, The Wanderer represents my own lifes journey, with me currently at a somewhat confusing bend in the road, and the future entirely uncertain.
