Most days I feel like the luckiest guy in the whole world! Everything that has mattered to me, things I have always dreamed about, I have chased after with irreverent passion. Sometimes I have paid the price with a bit of heart-ache, but more often than not, sheer determination, some talent, and self-manifested luck have culminated in an amazing journey. For most of this decade I have thoroughly enjoyed a successful career as a photographer, but this wasn’t my first career.
Six years ago, I left a music career that earned me a #1 selling record, 4 Top Tens as a writer, player and vocalist and 3 Top 20 music videos for film production. In audio production, I earned 4 Golds and a Platinum as an engineer and a nomination for Producer of the year. Music was a roller coaster, the journey was fantastic! The odd thing was, it always felt a little empty; I always wanted to be a photographer. Truth be told, I just kind of fell into music. It was tough to leave that career, but the move to photography, finally using my eyes, my heart, and my mind to communicate with the world has been extremely fulfilling.
I have been lucky enough to amass fantastic commercial clients in a few short years and have found myself flying the globe, working and sharing my vision. I particularly love the melding of digital capture and post-processing (photoshop). I love dreaming with my mind's eye and then assembling the necessary images to communicate a new unseen vision, what a technological treat!
Surprisingly, the arts of recorded music and photography are amazingly similar. I still capture the world I experience around me with imagination, passion and a digital recorder. I can use my voice and a piano to share my stories with the world aurally and I can share what I feel and experience through my eyes and mind's eye with the use of a camera and computer.
For the future, I see the combining of the digital mediums: film, stills and audio to create wonderful opportunities in new media production. Life has been good to me and I’d like to focus on productions that showcase people making the world a better place. If we could inspire everyone to do one or two good things a day: 4 Billion people x 1or 2 good deeds a day.....
