Artist Statement Jill Hunt creates in a wide range of media, with a preference for oil, watercolor and silk painting. The style and subject matter she uses in her work are also diverse. She shifts between media and techniques as a means of staying creatively fresh and makes choices based on what she feels will best communicate what she wants to share. Regardless, her work remains linked in its emotive and symbolic imagery, captured in luminous color. Each with meaning beyond the concrete, her paintings represent life experience and the emotions carried with it.
Jill attended Nazareth College in Rochester, NY as a Visual Arts major and the State University College at Buffalo, NY for Art Education. She has worked as an Art Educator in NC for 18 years. She exhibits her artwork throughout the state, and has earned numerous awards for her paintings. She has been a resident artist at 311 Gallery in Raleigh, NC since 2016.
