Artist Statement I respond to the world and resonate with life around me by way of my senses and emotions. A beautiful sunset or a mother comforting her child can bring me to tears; therefore, my art results from seeing something that moves my soul. I usually take a photograph of the subject for drawing purposes and then attempt to make the scene, even more, beautiful than it was in life. No subject is off limits -- landscapes to nudes, still lifes to personal remembrances such as my son giving his newborn daughter her first kiss. Sometimes my work is realistic, but many times I let my imagination change what my eye has seen. My nudes, which I call bodyscapes, result from using a photo of a nude but then changing the hues from traditional skin tones to those which morph into a colorful mountainscape, for example. Since I am a sensual person, I embrace many artistic disciplines -- glass bead making, jewelry design, fiber arts -- and in each instance let the materials and the ideas take hold of sight, touch, hearing, and even smell so that I can give full rein to my intuition. My work can be found in homes in Charleston, Santa Fe, San Diego, Franklin, TN, San Francisco, Dallas, and other cities.
