Artist Statement I love to bring a smile to the face of anyone who views my art or make a connection by touching a shared sentiment. In my paintings I am not a realist, but prefer to simplify and abstract important elements that express a feeling, emotion or moment in time. I have worked in an array of materials and mediums - acrylic paint on canvas is my current favorite along with photography and digital manipulation and hand-painted silk scarves. I have always enjoyed training animals and getting to know what is important to them. Dogs, particularly Labrador Retrievers (my own and the rescue dogs I foster), are my first love and predominate my artistic passion. I love working with my hands, which also includes gardening and cooking. Both of these hobbies plus my love of nature also inspire my art.
