ASHLEY HAYDEL, Baltimore Member Since August 2016 Artist Statement I began sketching at the age of 8. I fell in love with Jasmine from Aladdin; her style and her demeanor. I began to sketch her and her outfit repeatedly until it morphed into another outfit. Soon I was designing clothes. In high school I would design outfits for High School fashion shows and prom dresses. I began college with a Fashion Design major. College ruined fashion for me. I stopped expressing artistically for 5 years until I decided to buy a canvas. Painting makes me feel good. It allows me to share a deeper part of me where words have no meaning with loved ones and strangers. I only create for myself. I believe it's the best way to remain authentic.
