Artist Statement My name is Cliff LaPlant and like a lot of landscape photographers, I began with wandering around in the outdoors. My first EOS camera was a Canon Rebel G (35mm film). It was a great camera and a huge step up from the point and shoot and disposeable cameras I use to take on my outings, however I was not satisfied with the photographs I was taking.

I became somewhat obsessed with trying to adequately capture the scenes I was experiencing and finally realized that the weather and composition is what I was really lacking. I began seeking out locations where I could obtain a good composition and then waiting for the weather to change/sunrise/sunset.

My “Energetic release” began as treks to Mount Rainier, Mount Adams, Mount Shasta, the Sierra Nevada, etc. to attain the summits of these locations, but has now turned to capturing their beauty. I have been seriously photographing the wild places for over ten years now and my goal is to try and bring something a little different away from what is normally photographed. I hope you enjoy my photographs as much as I have had making them.

I am currently shooting with Nikon cameras and equipment.
