Description A 3d Grand Julian fractal. I was quite surprised how much of a difference it made when switching the color palette from a blue-black combination to this warm gold and ruby red. It is named 'Treasures' for the resemblance to the carved and gilded, jewel-encrusted top of a treasure coffer.
Scott Ferman, Cedar Rapids, IA Member Since March 2009 Artist Statement There is art and beauty all around us. From the landscapes we live in, to the people around us, and the patterns we perceive in the chaos of the universe. It is the job of the artist to find this beauty, nurture it, and draw it out into the open for others to see and be inspired. For me, the patterns I perceive most clearly are in the form of fractals.
My interest in fractal art comes from the idea of bringing order out of chaos. Most of my artwork begins life as a haze of random pixel noise on the computer screen. Through experimentation and learning from fellow fractalists, I can sometimes coax a pattern or design from the background noise, and find something beautiful hidden there. And so I present my visions here and hope, dear visitor, to inspire you.
