Description This is called the 'Angel Oak', which stands in John's Island, SC and is said to be one of if not the oldest oak tree in the US. At least that's what I am told by locals. A common misconception in this are is that it is named so because of a resemblance to an angels wings when looking at the whole tree or an angle appearing in the wood, etc. No, it is named so because of the people that once owned the land that it sits on. To their credit they did preserve the tree. It is such a marvel because it's estimated age is unheard of (I don't remember how old it is). It is an amazing sight to behold.
