Jacqueline Mauritz, Grants Pass, Oregon Member Since February 2010 Artist Statement PHOTOGRAPHY, PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS, DIGITAL FINE ART Hello, and thank you for visiting! I used to be member of Imagekind. I just renewed my membership in January, 1917.
Currently, two of my works are on display at the Grants Pass Museum. Additionally, I do a lot of shows, sell small archival prints created in my studio, and create original oil paintings which are sold to dealers and collectors.
I could probably prattle on for pages, given the chance, but here are the basic facts: I sold my first artistic work at age 18. I am a professional artist, photographer, and graphic designer, and have shown in galleries across the country, such as the Houston Gallery, Wild Rain Gallery, Hawks Gallery, Pacific Gallery, and MCA Headquarters in L A. Additionally, I had a retrospective show at Yeagers Antiques in Woodstock, N Y, was chosen as featured artist in Beaverton, OR, Art Walk, and have shown work at Michaels Art Supplies, and the Antiques and Collectible show, in Portland, OR. My portraits were awarded as prizes on national TV shows, such as Gambit. I have been on both sides of easel and camera, as a model, and artist.
Various methods/techniques are used to create a finished piece of art. Some of what you see in my galleries are traditional paintings and photographs. As a photographer, I only shoot available light images with a 50mm lens. I never use a flash. As to oil paintings, I use a wet-over-dry technique. My drawings are created using various mediums, such as oils, pens, pencils, watercolor, and/or pastels. I also extensively use my computer as a creative tool.
As to my popular VAMPS, FLAPPERS, FAIRIES series, they were drawn/sketched from original 1920's pulp magazines, which I started creating in the 1970's. The sketches were later scanned into my computer, where graphic fine art techniques were applied. Sometimes, I use certain filters in my photographs to bring out clarity, detail, or take out what I don't like...litter, a swarm of tourists, etc.
Anyway, thank you for visiting, and come back often, as I will constantly be adding new images!
