Description This is a painting of one of the 378' cutters commissioned by the U. S. Coast Guard. These vessels served in Vietnam and Iraq and now carry out drug interdiction duties. search and rescue, and fisheries regulation enforcement. This class of vessel are still in commission.
William RaVell III, Oakdale Member Since August 2008 Artist Statement I have painted all of my life but made art my full-time profession upon retiring from the U. S. Coast Guard in l982. My paintings have been commissioned by the United States Coast Guard Museum, U. S.Coast Guard Alumni Association, the Foundation For Coast Guard History, General Dynamics, U. S. Navy, University of New Haven, and Three Rivers Community College. My art is part of countless private, corporate and military collections. My specialty is marine art and based on my years of sea duty, I can accurately capture the effects of wind and tide on the sea. I also love to paint portraits, seascapes, landscapes, and animals.
