Description Ullas stands for pure joy or ecstasy in Sanskrit. This is part of my painting series titled Talking Colors and talks of the jubiliation of swaying grass. Like the other paintings in this series, Ullas depicts the seen, but stands for the elusive essence within us.
Sripriya Mozumdar, Gurgaon, India Member Since May 2009 Artist Statement A self-taught artist, I set aside a career in marketing communications to pursue my first love – painting. My paintings draw from the infinite beauty of the world around us. Bringing this beauty into our lives and preserving it inspires me to paint. I choose to paint photo-realistic, so that I can remain true to the original beauty of each subject. Photorealism is a journey of exacting standards, where God truly lies in the details. It has taught me to observe rather than merely see; and to truly and deeply appreciate. Oil and charcoal are my chosen media of expression – oil for its richness and charcoal for its spontaneity. The experience of being touched by the beautiful, of appreciating that which makes life worth living – this is my wish and hope for you.
