Description This image was captured at 'Bear's Den' an outcropping of rocks west of Bluemont Virginia. The site is believed to be a Native American solstice site dating back 12,000 years, the rocks were a key point during the Civil War & popular tourist destination in the 1800's and Early 1900's. The outcropping is part of the Appalachian Trail and holds a special place in the hearts of those who grew up on them as I did. This image captured on the Autumnal Equinox of 2012.Won Curator's Choice in Mountains Photography Contest on November, 2012
