Artist Statement I won’t wear you down with too many details, but here are the highlights as they apply to my trade.
I’ve always been a visual person from an early age I was the kid in the class who could pencil out a good sketch. Then at about fourteen I got my first film SLR camera, the immediacy and the volume of images you could create was the hook for me. My first two years in high school I took art classes, my last two years I studied photography.
Then in my first college experience I took a little detour into the filmmaking world. Ambition was the theme at this stage of my life, and it was blind. I made several short films one of which was nineteen minutes long tragedy dealing with unattained teenage love. Sounds pretentious, but that was film school. Anyways I got lured into the film business starting as Production Assistant and ending as Location Scout; along with a couple different titles Production Coordinator, 2nd Camera Assistant, and Cast Driver. Ultimately that ventures lead to a deep desire and vivid dream calling me back to my roots as a photographer and artist.
I had to make my own images, and make a living at it. I did this by enrolling myself at Brooks Institute of Photography and acquiring a B.A.
Currently I create my own images for Imagekind and istockphoto, in addition to helping other photographers’ create pigment prints of their images.
