Description Wangari Muta Maathai. A great Kenyan, A great woman, a great human being. She did greatly in the world of environmental Conservation. Wangari was born on April 1, 1940, in Nyeri, Kenya. She Died on 25th September 2011. I can safely say, without a doubt that Wangari single handedly begun a Movement and a culture of tree planting in Kenya. Now that she is gone, we still plant trees the way she taught us! She was a real mother to this generation!During her life time over 30 million trees were planted. She did not relent even at the blink of death. Wangari Maathai was awarded the 2004 Noble Peace Prize due to her fight for the environmental conservation and standing against governments which worked towards destroying natural habitats. She Began the Green Belt Movement that still gets stronger with time even several years after her death. Wangari Maathai will no doubt remain in the History books of Kenya and the world at large for her fight against those who are ruining our beautiful earth!
Anthony Mwangi, Nairobi Member Since January 2015 Artist Statement In simple terms, I am a natural student of art since I was a little child. I recall small awards from various institutions since I was in class 5.
I have loved drawing all my life. For some time since I left high school, I ventured into graphic design which really helped me in day to day upkeep. Meanwhile, I would sell a painting here and there as I progressed in other avenues of Art. Photography is another passion I have cherished over the years. I have published two full color comic books in Kenya and Netherlands.
8 years ago I also got into 2D and 3D modeling and Animation. I feel this goes a long way in enhancing my artistic talents.
All in all, my deepest love is for fine art. I am happy to be a member of ImageKind Forum. I look forward to showcasing most of my work in fine art, photography and digital arts in this forum.
