Artist Statement I was born in Cleveland, Ohio May 16, 1984. I attended elementary and secondary elementary school in the Warrensville Heights, Ohio public school district. In 2002 I received my high school degree from Twinsburg High School in Twinsburg, Ohio and in 2007 I graduated from Ohio University. My program of study consisted of a Bachelor of Specialized Studies with a concentration in African American studies and photography. My educational background has encouraged me to execute research and projects on various subjects. These subjects explore topics such as Black women photographers of the 1950s and 1960s, Black women and independence that is enforced upon them, and the relationship between women and hip hop.

Beginning this fall I will be returning to Ohio University in pursuit of my Masters Degree in school, rehab, and community counseling.

For the past two summers I have participated in weeklong projects in Atlanta, GA and Indianapolis, IN for the NABJ (National Association of Black Journalists). For these projects I served as a photojournalist, which exposed me to various cultures and people. I have had the honor of photographing dignified individuals such as the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Rev. Al Sharpton, author, Nikki Giovanni, singer, Musiq, actress, Raven Simone and Bishop TD Jakes. In addition to photographing such persons through the NABJ projects, I have had the opportunity to photographically explore the world of homelessness, the Indiana State Fair, and the spiritual significance of MegaFest.

Not until recently have I restarted taking photographs. At the moment the subjects which are of interest to me include nature, landscapes, and people; while focusing primiarily on fine detail through close-up techniques.
