Adka (Andrea Jones), NC, USA
Member Since September 2009
Artist Statement Andrea, who was born and raised in Slovakia, developed a love for drawing at an early age. Her art teachers rarely appreciated her eccentric art approach to subjects, which apparently did not meet the communistic ideal of conformity. Slovak folk art full of colorful ornaments and whimsies played an important role in her artistic development. She enjoys creating positively vibrant, inspiring and playful surrealistic imagery loaded with energy, incorporating multiple dimensions and colors, using acrylic paints, which appeals to a wide range of art lovers.

She's been told that her paintings are like "a romp through fantasia." or "a colorful poetry."
She signs her works under the name "Adka", which is borrowed from her childhood nickname.
Her goal is to paint happy visions that bring joy to people and enrich the world.

Andrea pioneered her original art style in 2010 and her uplifting artwork was exhibited nationally and internationally with various galleries and art networks such as: Galerie Petr Brandl, Prague, Czech Republic; Audi Gallery, Bratislava, Slovakia; Trevisan International Art, Italy; Southern Museum of Fine Art, Las Vegas, USA; Palais Shonborn, Vienna, Austria, Taylor White Gallery, North Carolina, USA

Displayed at Ligne Roset, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Sheraton in Bratislava, Slovakia; Music Academy, North Carolina, USA; Animal Medical Centre, North Carolina, USA;

Bringing smiles to Motole Hospital, Children Oncology Department, Prague, Czech Republic

Andrea's digital art was accepted for Bridges 2013 the world’s largest mathematical art conference on mathematical connections to art, science and music.

Her painting “Gracefully Nice on Ice" was a finalist in the Art Competition for the 2015 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships

When she's not creating her funky new characters in her home studio, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and replacing her paint brush for a tennis racquet, beating the devil out of tennis balls with her teammates.
