Artist Statement I was born in Douglas , Isle of Man in 1963 . We came to Australia in 1966 to search for a better life . I grew up in Clarinda , Victoria , Australia which was as good as any place to grow up in . It had everything you needed close by , shops , school , lots of open fields as well as a tip which did stink now and again . Having so much ground to venture into I was in my element with nature . I would always come home with something I found to show my mum before I let it go . I just loved all creatures great & small , even spiders . With my mum being a florist in her early years I was always surrounded by flowers , I even use to buy carnations for her all the time because they smelt the sweetest , just like my mum . Then to cut a long story short she died of cancer at only the age of 56 . That really kicked me in the guts , not only because of her death but also my big brother died of cancer the year before , he was only 26 and my girlfriend of over 3 years disappeared as well . I guess I was welcomed to the reality of all good things come to an end . I have to be truthful to say it was a very challenging time for me and my family to get over this tragedy , we loved them so very much . My work as a cabinet maker kept my mind off things as well as tennis , golf and my hobby of photography . I was able to become a master craftsman and with my photography , I wanted to master that as well . I finally got my diploma of photography in 2010 and turned pro in 2012 doing location work , pets , flowers , portraits , food & products . I decided to enter some photography competitions in late 2010 and to date have accrued a total of 83 Awards worldwide . publications in numerous photography books & Art magazines . Exhibited in a few online galleries as well as bricks & mortar exhibitions 3 times , and was the Landscape photographer of the year 2010 at the Global Photography Awards . Today I spend as much time as I can to create as much art as I can which I love so much . I just can't stick to one style , I need to delve into everything , this is how I grew up and is still how I am still growing as a person & an artist , Peace & good health to all .
