Description A family expression of love and support for a cancer survivor through the holding of hands and the wearing of LiveStrong bracelets.Cancer, like any major illness, can be extremely stressful for all those involved, and the support of family and friends is invaluable at such a time. This makes a powerful statement of support either as a wall print, or as a smaller print for a desk or table top. These are real hands (those of my family), warts and all. The bulk of the image was converted to the black and white, while the color was preserved in the bands.
Nic McPhee, Morris, MN Member Since June 2007 Artist Statement I got into (minor) trouble when I was probably 10 or so for burning a whole role of film on an old metal goose-neck lamp and the patterns the light from it made on the desk. One could claim that even then I was exploring ideas of light and form, although I clearly wouldn't have used that sort of language at the time. From the early days, though, I was fascinated by strange little things and developed a reputation for slowing everyone down so I could take a picture of some rock or twig. I love light and shadow, and extraordinary details of often ordinary things, and photography is an important part of how I see and experience events.
I've posted hundreds of my photographs on flickr; also feel free to visit my blog at http://UnhinderedByTalent.com/Phi/
