Description WHEELS OF TIME by Lynn Bauer - More accurately, this is probably some sort of large gear, rather than a 'wheel.' But, it is definitely a look back in time in California's Bodie Ghost Town. The tower behind the wheel is part of a mine shaft which houses two 'man lift cages' used for lowering people, or things, down into the mine, and then bringing them up, again. Bodie is the largest preserved ghost town in the country. It is a state historic park, which draws many visitors each year to observe how life was in the 'olden days.' This old town is filled with historic buildings. The streets remain much has they were back in the 1800's and early 1900's. It is wonderful to roam the streets of Bodie, getting an idea of what it was to live so many years ago.
