Description This is a charcoal and conte drawing on toned paper. The drawing was done from life and the original size 9'x12' (23cm x 30.5cm). While living in China, I picked up a chop (red stamp) that is also used as my signature.
MaryAnn Cleary, Cambridge, MN Member Since February 2008 Artist Statement MaryAnn Cleary was born and raised in Butte, Montana where she developed a love for the mountains and outdoors. During grade school in a city competition, she won her first ribbon for a chalk drawing done of a squirrel. She had a great love for drawing. In high school and beyond that love for drawing continued. However, when she went to college, she was encouraged to "get a useful degree". Consequently, she received a B.S. in Chemistry, but her love for painting and drawing continued with her continuing to win awards and collectors buying her paintings.
During the following years, MaryAnn raised two wonderful children and moved throughout the Western Rocky Mountain states. She continued to take workshops and classes whenever she could as well as continue to draw and paint. Recently, after spending two years in China, MaryAnn decided to pursue her love of art full time leaving the corporate world behind.
In January 2008, she began a daily painting blog to develop discipline as well as fine tune her artistic skills. The blog and her website iare both called Spirit River Studio after the river that runs next to her log home in Minnesota. One can find her blog at http:/maryanncleary.blogspot.com and her website at http://www.maryanncleary.com.
