Description This is the first of a series entitled 'Without Davey'. This series consists of a set of four images depicting a stylized version of myself as a sorrowful faery with broken hearts for wings that goes along with a poem I wrote after my fianc of five years, David, succumbed to cancer November 4th, 2006. I was uncertain of whether or not I would ever return to my art for months after Davey died, until this poem struck me along with the images that go with each line. Anyone who knew David in real life or over the internet knew him as a fun, silly, outgoing, caring man...he seemed to tremendously impact anyone who he spoke to. He was a story teller, a joke maker, a heart-of-gold biker, a loving teddy bear, and a true friend. I still miss him greatly, and not a day has gone by that I haven't thought about him. I will always love him, and I will always proudly bare the scars that the entire experience has left behind.

Artist Statement My name is Tanya, better known as TanDoll in the art world, and I am a fantasy artist. "TanDoll" is the nickname given to me by my late Great-Aunt Lena. She was the first person to support my interest in art and helped push for me to improve and pursue my artistic talents. Some say that the handle is cheesy, but in all honestly I chose the name to pay homage to the one who pressed for me to become an artist.

Professionally, I have studied printmaking at the local university and have been selling my original artwork on eBay since 1999, and have been a commissioned artist since 2002. My main medium is a combination of oil pastel and colored pencil, which is quite time-consuming. But, since I focus on quality rather than quantity, I don't mind spending so much time on my work. When I’m not drawing, I am either working a day job that I really loathe or doing my dues as a tattoo apprentice, which I do tend to enjoy.

Art is not only what I want to do for a professional living, it is what I am and how I live. Anything can be art if you look at it the right way. For that opinion and view on life, I am labled a freak. But, really…that is a form of art, as well, so I really don’t mind.
