Artist Statement My name is Maciej Wojtkowiak but people call me Magic. Why? We are surrounded by small and big magical moments. Beauty, smile, emotions and beautiful light appear very often — what you can see on my pictures. Usually you can find me busy taking pictures during weddings, concerts, theatrical performances, receptions and other events.
On my free time you can spot me in mountains, forests, parks, botanical gardens, orchards where I fulfill my passion of nature photography. Additionally in my frequent travels I’m documenting architecture and busy life of big US and European cities as well as peaceful daily life of remote Buddhist monasteries in Himalaya.
I live in Upstate New York, Finger Lakes region in Ithaca, one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
I’m a member of several international photo stock agencies and my images have been published in many magazines, newspapers and books. I exhibited my work documenting the life of the Tibetan community in exile in Poland and the Czech Republic.
I have collaborated with the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights and Amnesty International.
My publication credits include Ronne Randall’s book “Marriage,” guidebooks such as Wiley, Fodor’s, The Rough Guide, Frommer’s, photos in DK Books albums, CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY PRESS, ABERCROMBIE & KENT travel brochures, The OPEC Fund For International Development, as well as newspapers and magazines such as The Guardian (UK), Ahora (Spain) Polityka, Przekrój, Newsweek, Rzeczpospolita, Gazeta Wyborcza (Poland).
