Artist Statement I was born in Burdwan city and brought up in Durgapur, a small town in the state of West Bengal, India. You can call me a so-called self-taught artist who denied to learn anything conventional. I was doing abstract works when everybody else my age was learning to draw trees and birds. My interesting works helped me enjoy the attention of lots of famous intellectual artists, writers and film personalities in my early years.

For past few years I have been living and working in New Delhi. Have had both solo shows and group shows in Delhi.

Apart from figurative, semi-figurative, and abstract works in oil, acrylic, mixed media, water color, ink, I’ve also used incision on paper technique for a series of abstract works done in 2000. Since this time I have been preoccupied with the pictorial exploration of the paradoxical structure of reality. As a result of a series of experiments, I’ve discovered that if living and non-living is made to reconcile in parts, the composite object will have the properties of another realm or existential dimension, which takes us back to where it all originated from to start with, as in a liminocentric structure of consciousness. Most of my present works explore this paradoxical relationship between living and non-living.

http://www.facebook.com/ashishdza These works dont neccesarily constitute the true body of my works, but then they are all what I can lay my hands on as of now. Most of my works are sold out and I don’t have images of most of them.

Currently i'm working on a series titled 'paranrmal views' which is based on asymmetric lines of familiar objects and figures, these works are about insufficient forms, outrageous lines and oblique standpoint...
