Artist Statement Leelee Bookwalter is a digital photographer currently based in St Paul, MN. Originally from Vermont, Leelee got her start photographing the livestock, landscapes and wildlife of the rural community where she grew up. Her travels have since taken her to locations across the United States as well as the Caribbean and South America, all with her camera in tote!

While she continues to capture the diversity of scenes that she encounters in nature, Leelee's primary focus is on creating Fine Art Horse Photography. Additionally, she offers a private portrait service to horse owners looking to capture special moments of their own horses on camera.

Of her work, Leelee says "I enjoy horses as a subject because they are an animal deep with human meaning. There is something tangible about the pull that exists between human and equine; I think that the qualities that horses so effortlessly represent -beauty, power and autonomy- are qualities that people admire and wish for themselves. To be in a horse's presence is to borrow, however vicariously, the experience of these things. I find them to be a paragon of visual poetry and I feel so lucky to work around them regularly."
