Description Yellow Pipe in Snow Abstract Art to Buy.Two tones and circles: I love to photograph two colour tones and circular shapes. This combination keeps finding me. It has found me in the form of a chrome circle amidst red metal, and here it found me in the form of a yellow pipe wrapped in whitest snow. The white snow provides a natural backdrop and frame for the yellow of the pipe. I wanted to preserve the absolute white of the snow. It is far too easy to capture snow as grey. At the same time, I also wanted to preserve the crisp texture of snow. It is also far too easy to capture the snow overblown, without feature.Normally considered as ugly or with indifference, the yellow pipe caught my eye as honest and beautiful. A circle is a perfect, natural shape. When formed by human-made plastic, it becomes an interesting and intriguing contradiction. I love the texture of the rolls of plastic that run down the pipe, as it disappears into the black and the infinite. This black is made all the more potent, in contrast to the brilliant white snow around it. The crisp snow sitting on top of the pipe adds an extra dimension to the photograph.Being found by a photograph is, for me, much more satisfying than posing a photograph. I love to work with what is there already. I love to discover the little quirks of beauty the world has laid out for us.modern, prints, sale, photography, abstract, art, buy, artwork, contemporary, pictures
Toby Davis, Luxembourg Member Since May 2010 Artist Statement Hello. I’m Toby and welcome to my photography gallery. If you have the time, take a moment to browse. Maybe one of my photographs will stand up and sing for you.
For me, photography is about sharing my eyes with the world. It is an intensely intimate act to show another what you see; to struggle to capture what you find to be beautiful. I find beauty in the very striking, monumental and picturesque, but I also find beauty in the mundane, ignored and functional. To truly capture the elevation of the eye-catching and elevate the subtle of the passed-by is the ultimate test and responsibility of a photographer.
As you browse my store, you’ll notice that there are relatively few photographs. To my mind most of the photos I take are journeys, not destinations. I only sell my very best work.
