Description Photo was taken The Narrows in Zion National Park, Utah, USA, The North Fork of the Virgin River, known as the 'Zion Narrows' is the most legendary and popular canyon hike in Zion National Park. The Zion Narrows is the section of the Virgin River just upstream from the Temple of Sinawava. The majestic walls of the main canyon close in to form a tall and narrow canyon and the Virgin River flows around you. With beautiful flowing water and barely any direct sunlight reaching the bottom it creates a photographers' paradise of light and shadows. The hike is mostly in water that is less than knee-deep, but there is always the chance of stepping into a pool that is waist-deep or deeper. The hike is classified as easy to strenuous depending how far you decide to hike. Hiking is not permitted when the river is high from runoff or flash flooding. Hiking is available all year round although you would not hike when flash floods or thunderstorms are predicted for the area. Hiking is usually very pleasant during summer and fall. Few people hike during winter and spring, when the water is cold, but some go in wearing wet or dry suits. The best way for first-time river hikers and those with only a short time in the park is to start at the Temple of Sinawava. You'll need to ride the shuttle into Zion Canyon, to Temple of Sinawava, then hike on land for 1 mile until you reach the entrance to The Narrows. ..... ..... ..... .....
