Artist Statement Born and raised in New York, Erica Hackett always admired and appreciated art but discovered her love of painting relatively late in life. Mostly self-taught, Erica sites David Garibaldi, Indie184, Basquiat, Alec Monopoly and an array of graffiti and fine artists, as her artistic influences.

"I needed an outlet. I have always been a creative person. I would doodle here and there, but I actually began painting about five years ago and I just fell in love with it. I paint pieces that I would love to hang on my own walls. I'm constantly moving and always looking for art. I could describe what I wanted but I never found it anywhere so one day I said, I'll paint what I want."

Primarily working in aerosols and acrylics, Erica finds inspiration everywhere from her daily life to pop culture, cartoons, "chick flicks" and current events.

“I hope to share my art with the world. Albeit a little cliché, it’s the truth. I paint from my heart and I put my all into every single piece of work that I do. I just want people to see that; to see me. That would be amazing.”
