Artist Statement I believe in the power of the absurd.


My name is Peter Mammes, I am a machine that manufactures useless articles according to my synthetic emotions. I have always been partial to the macabre and bizarre. My everyday feeling leans towards detachment and isolation. I try to use my experiences as a vehicle for my concepts.

I do a lot of research and I spend a long time thinking and planning my artworks. I believe that people spend too little time planning.

I currently live in South Africa in the province of Gauteng in a town called Pretoria (the administrative center of our country). My country is one of the absurdest places on earth because of the present and past political situation.
