DescriptionOne of the more interesting challenges of golf is tackling the long, difficult par 5's. Aim with focus and precision and trust your skill. You may be rewarded with a birdie!
“Mastering the Par 5” is the third painting in my growing series of digital golf art.
In my golf art paintings, I use a variety of colors and brush strokes in order to create a lasting visual impression of the natural environment on and around the courses as well as the various challenges confronting the golfer. Art buyers (and art lovers) will see similarities to prominent French and American impressionist and post-impressionist painters like Claude Monet, Alfred Sisley, John H. Twachtman, Edmund C.Tarbell, Childe Hassam, and Alfred Krehbiel as I offer homage to their artistic vision through my own art.

Audie Dunham, Minneapolis Member Since June 2009 Artist Statement I grew up on the high plains of the New Mexico desert 200 miles southeast of Albuquerque. The sky was consistently blue, the summer temperatures intense, and the desert colors complex and robust. It was a perfect place to experience the grandeur and artistic beauty of my southwestern surroundings—and to learn to appreciate the environment in general.
My passion for and skill at expressing myself through art was pretty evident by the time I was in 3rd grade. By high school, I had discovered the joy of painting, and as a senior I went on to take top honors in the very first juried art show I entered at the Werner VonBraun Museum in Roswell, New Mexico.
I decided to pursue an art education in college, first at the City College of San Francisco and then at the University of New Mexico. However, after 2 1/2 years I became sidetracked and switched my formal education to psychology and business, and went on to spend the next 40 years founding and leading companies, and helping others develop and grow. Yet, I never lost the desire to make a go of it as an artist, and continued to paint, producing a varied collection of contemporary art for family and friends over the years.
In my late twenties, I discovered another passion when I took up the game of golf. I quickly fell in love with golf and became an avid competitor in local tournaments just to experience the thrill of this difficult and exacting sport. Golf immediately appealed to my visual mind and afforded me the opportunity to enjoy the physical beauty of the golf course while also experiencing the mental and physical challenges inherent in a game played to a set of exacting self-imposed standards. To me, nothing quite matches the excitement of a competitive round of golf on an expansive and demanding golf course.
So, I decided to combine my passion for painting and golf by creating a series of striking scenes of beautiful and demanding golf holes that stretch across the American landscape. My intent here is to express through my art the intertwining beauty and challenge of golf and nature.
Thank you for visiting my golf art gallery, and I extend my heartfelt gratitude to those among you that choose to invest in my golf art!
