Robert has been a professional illustrator, fine artist and graphic designer for the past 30 years. He has an extensive background in food product packaging and food illustration. Hundreds of his illustrative works have been printed on name-brand food products and distributed onto grocery store shelves from coast to coast. Many of his illustrations have appeared on cold cereals, cooked cereals, baking mixes, soup mixes, salad dressings, cooking oils, breads, dairy products and a variety of food condiments.
Currently, Robert's focus is on his fine art works in oil or acrylic, though he continues to generate advertising and editorial illustrations of a wide variety of subject matter including highly detailed illustrations of plants, still-life, technical subjects, landscapes, prepared foods, portraiture, and wildlife.
The past 30 years has been a "learning journey" that has helped Robert hone his craftsmanship and technical skill. As a traditional illustrator, Robert works in oil, watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil, pastels, graphite, or pen and ink. Robert also has 18 years of experience creating high-end digital illustrations of any subject in Photoshop®, using Photoshop® solely or in concert with my own hand sketches and Adobe Illustrator Suite®.
Well known as a realist painter, Robert dabbles in Surrealist concepts, though his current fascination is Aviation History of both World Wars.
Robert's keen interest and involvement in aviation since childhood has inspired him to paint and draw a variety of military aircraft. His recent works dramatically depict historical aerial dogfights, aerial bombing raids, static aircraft which include fighter planes, reconnaissance aircraft, bombers and troop carriers from all countries involved in the World Wars. Robert also produces his own versions of "nose art women" and "mascots" which are completely conceptual. His smooth "airbrushed" illustrative technique truly brings back the delightful memories of wartime "pin up girls".
Though Robert enjoys creating "digital" paintings from time to time, he is most creative and inspired with a traditional brush in hand, sitting in front of his easel. Most of his current paintings are done using strictly traditional methods, particularly oil on canvas.
