Artist Statement I want my art to be really free, abstract and wonky, it is never abstract enough, I put too much science and structure in the mix for it. I don’t want to have a straight-minded head that would make things uninteresting. I make art to objectify my interest. I create my mind and I create what I am passionate about. I create a physical object of what I love in order to have a copy of that point in time in which I was obsessed. These objects I form are the records of my life.
I create this massive image with small patterns to gives it a fine points with great contrast. I use strong contrasts so that it is bold and demands the eye to look at it. Black ink on a white canvas is my favorite, but things are not always so simple. Each piece creates its own demands.
Scribbling around on a paper with nothing in my mind develops the most superb things. I create characters from the scribbles, and as the character develops their story is created. Super Chicken is a character I created in 2nd grade, and he is my identity. A chicken is the most common thing, they are things in the background, but when put front and center they have a very strange magnificence to them. I create my art using that same strange dazzle that I also see in myself.
