Description The African Fish Eagle is unmistakable with it's white head, throat and tail, chestnut belly and underwing coverts, and black flight feathers. In flight it appears as a large, broad-winged eagle with a short tail. It usually hunts from a perch and may call either from a perch or on the wing, throwing its head back as it does so; its evocative cry is probably the best known of any African bird. It is endemic to Lake Malawi.
