Artist Statement My photography portrays the often overlooked beauty found in an otherwise harsh, uninviting landscape. I challenge myself to take the time to find the charm in such objects as the abandoned farmhouse, the rusting fender, the desolute graveyard, and the dying wildflower.
I always thought that capturing a fleeting moment in time was one of the most beautiful endeavors. I enjoy capturing the landscape of Llano Estacado. Here is an untapped, inate beauty hiding in plain sight. I enjoy utilizing the story-telling abilities of the lens to share my perspective with you.
I am a self-taught photographer (my work is viewable at NaturalAbstract.com). I took to the empty fields with my camera to experiment. I was thrown into the fire when I learned of the City of Lubbock’s Parks Photography Competition and Exhibition. Never expecting anyone to appreciate my photography, I was stunned when I won first place for “Farfalla: A Butterfly at Lake Allan Henry.” This experience was quite inspiring.
Art centers and galleries feature my photography as well as juried exhibitions. Magazines including Nature Photographer publish my photographs. I donate framed prints to nonprofit organizations such as the South Plains Wildlife Rehabilitation Center to assist in their fundraising efforts.
Having finished my education, I am reuniting with my creativity and am so pleased to share my adventures with all of you. I hope you enjoy the experience.
