Artist Statement Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii!

Patricia Diane was born and raised in California. As a child, Patricia showed a strong talent for drawing. She also had the good fortune to travel the Pacific with her father, a film producer for Disney. Patricia attended the UCLA School of Fine Arts with a major in painting. After college, she pursued her interest in Polynesian arts, traveling extensively to Tahiti. There she painted, and studied Tahitian culture and dance.

To further her artistic inclinations, in 1991 Patricia founded her company, Hei Mana Creations, LLC. She designed shirts, refrigerator magnets, selling them at local crafts fairs. She then combined her love of Polynesia with her talent and developed a line of collectible Hawaiian dolls. Cast in resin, this unique line of detailed figures depicted Hawaiian themes. With cruise lines, hotels and galleries throughout Hawaii suddenly carrying her work, she decided to make Hawaii her permanent home in 2000.

Since then she has continued to develop her artistry. She incorporates natural fibers and objects found on walks in the rain forest, and along sea shores into one of a kind art. She creates; Dolls, boxes, mixed media Santa figures, Christmas ornaments, paintings, and figurines. She continues to sell her work to a variety of private collectors, as well as maintain her Gallery representation with Martin and Mac Arthur, a popular high-end Gallery chain throughout the Hawaiian Islands.
